Bill Smith recently added a new puppy in the family. Murphy a three month old Boston Terrier along with his brother Max a four year old Boston Terrier was introduced to the fire service today.


 
Thoughts and Prayers For Our Brother Nate Klepping

Elizabethtown Volunteers would like to wish Junior Firefighter Nate Klepping a speedy recovery. Nate is currently at Hershey Medical Center in the ICU suffering a head injury from earleir in the week. Our thoughts and Prayers go out to Nate Klepping.


 
Reported House Fire On Plum Street

At 0959 hours, Station 7-4 was called to the 200 block of Plum Street for a house reported to be on fire. Chief 7-4-3 received information of a coffee pot on fire. Chief 7-4-3 arrived and advised that the fire was out. The incident was downgraded and was held to Engine 7-4-2 and Truck 7-4. Station 7-4 was placed in service at 1011 hours.

Station 7-4 also responded to a fire alarm at 0913 hours.


 
   
   
AFA With Multiple Alarms

At 2111 hours, Engine 7-4-2 and Truck 7-4 responded to the Whistle Stop View Apartments for a fire alarm. Chief 7-4-3 went on scene with nothing showing and assumed Command 7-4. The engine company made entry inside and checked the apartments. Crews found multiple alarms and a light haze in one of the rooms. Truck company assisted the engine company with the investigation. Station 7-4 cleared the fire alarm at 2200 hours.

Station 7-4 also responded to a public service earlier in the day.


 
   
   
July Starts Off Busy For EFD Volunteers

At 1335 hours, Truck 7-4 and Engine 7-4-2 were called out to assist 7-11 (Rheems) for a reported shed on fire. Truck 7-4 went enroute with a crew of five and Engine 7-4-2 responded with four. Both were recalled enroute.

At 1652 hours, Truck 7-4 was called out again for a child locked in a vehicle at the intersection of Market Street and East High Street. Truck 7-4 responded with a crew of five. Truck 7-4 was canceled prior to arriving on scene. The child was out of the vehicle and no injuries were reported.

At 2057 hours, Rescue Engine 7-4-1 was dispatched for the transfer to Station 7-9 (Maytown). Station 7-9 was called to a building fire in Wrightsville Borough, York County. RE 7-4-1 went enroute with six. While enroute RE 7-4-1 was called to the 1600 block of 441 East Donegal Township for a tree along the roadway.  RE 7-4-1 cleared the transfer at 2141 hours.


 
   
   
The New Command 7-4 Is Now In Service

After weeks of having lights and radios installed. Chief 7-4-2 (Kinsey) Finished striping the new command vehicle. Command 7-4 is now in service and available for calls.


 
   
   
West High Street MVA

At 0647 hours, Rescue Engine 7-4-1 was dispatched to West High Street and Poplar Street for a vehicle accident with unknown injuries. RE 7-4-1 arrived to find a two car crash with blocking. Personnel cleaned up debris and checked to see if there were any injuries. Station 7-4 was available at 0718 hours.

Another Vehicle Accident Involving A Motorcycle

At 22:46 hours, Engine 7-4-1 and Truck 7-4 were dispatched to 440 West Bainbridge Street for a reported vehicle accident involving a motorcycle. Command 7-4 (Kinsey) arrived first on scene with a motorcycle on it's side, with the patient not responsive. Engine 7-4-1 arrived on the scene with 6 and helped with patient care and debris clean up.

 
   
   
Car Into A Pole With Wires Down

At 2047 hours, Rescue Engine 7-4-1 and Truck 7-4 were called out ot the 900 block of Hershey Road for a reported vehicle accident with entrapment. RE 7-4-1 arrived to find one SUV on its side with no one trapped. The SUV struck a utility pole and brought wires down along the roadway. PP&L was notified and RE 7-4-1 remained on the scene until the roadway was cleared. Station 7-4 was available at 2209 hours.


 
   
   
Update Of New Command 74

Elizabethtown's new command vehicle has returned to headquaters from K & C Communications after having radios and lights installed.

Over the last few days Chief 7-4-2 (Kinsey) spent many hours stripping  the vehicle and preparing it for service. Others members that assisted A/C Kinsey were Chief Drey and A/C Shriner. The new Command 7-4 will be in service when these items are completed.


 
   
   
Hannah Garman

The Elizabethtown Fire Department regrets to inform everyone that, last evening, Hannah Garman passed away. 

In December, many firefighters gathered together to make Hannah's Christmas dream come true. She wanted to see how many cards she could receive.

All the members at the Elizabethtown Fire Department will keep Hannah and her family in there thoughts and prayers.


 
   
   
Hoss's And Vehicle Accident Involving A Motorcycle

Today members of the Elizabethtown Fire Department were at Hoss's Steak and Sea House for a fundraiser event as well as fire prevention activites. Firefighters were at Hoss's from 11:30 am to 9:00 p.m.

During the fundraiser, Engine 7-4-1 and Truck 7-4 were disptached to the intersection of Bossler Road and Turnpike Road for a vehicle accident involving a motorcycle. Engine 7-4-1 was enroute within seconds and Squad 7-4 followed. Command 7-4 (Kinsey) arrived to find a car vs a motorcycle, with the patient on the road way.  Engine 7-4-1 and Squad 7-4 were placed available 25 mintues later . Squad 7-4 returned to Hoss's to continue with the fundraiser and fire prevention activities.

Preliminary numbers show EFD raised well over $300.00. All the members of the Elizabethtown Fire Department would like the thank everyone who came out to support their local fire department.

Car Into a Tree on Bainbridge Road

At 0137 hours, Rescue Engine 7-4-1 responded to a vehicle accident in West Donegal Township. Initial reports were of a car into a tree with one injury.

RE 7-4-1 arrived to confirm one vehicle into a tree. Crews assisted with patient care and secured the vehicle before it was towed from the scene. Station 7-4 was available at 0220 hours.


 
   
   
Controlled Burn Goes Out of Control in WDT

At 1216 hours, Station 7-4 was alerted to the 1900 block of Bainbridge Road for a reported brush fire near a barn.

Engine 7-4-2 responded within a minute of dispatch and received information that the police department was on the scene with a controlled burn that was spreading.

Engine 7-4-2 arrived to find a large fire (approximately 30 X 40 feet). Crews worked to extinguish and overhaul the area.

Tanker 7-1 (Bainbridge) assisted Engine 7-4-2 with water supply and units cleared around 1241 hours.
