Many members of the Elizabethtown Fire Department gathered around to watch the Super Bowl. All of the members that attended the Super Bowl party, all brought a small dish of food with them.

 
   
   
Afternoon Crash on 743
Saturday, February 6, 2010 
-
At 1451 hours, Rescue Engine 7-4-1 responded to a two car crash on 743 in the area of 283 west bound of the off ramp.

Crews arrived to confirm the two car crash and held it to Company 7-4 only.

Crews cleaned up debris and was held on the scene for about 40 minutes before being cleared. No injuries were reported.


 
   
   
Fire Reported in Lawn

At 2338 hours, Engine 7-4-2 was dispatched to assist Lebanon County Fire Company 3 (Lawn) for a possible house on fire.

Engine 7-4-2 arrived on the scene and assisted with interior and exterior operations. A light smoke condition was throughout the dwelling once crews accessed the interior. The outcome of the incident was a chimney fire and units remained on scene for about 45 minutes until cleared.


 
   
   
2 Alarm Barn Fire In Rapho Township

At 1202 hours, Engine 7-4-2 was called out to assist Station 2-12 (Mastersonville) on a 2 alarm barn fire. Engine 7-4-2 was on the scene of a draft site for about two hours before being release by Command 2-12.


 
   
   
Engine Goes to the 71 Local for a Working House Fire

At 0849 hours, Engine 7-4-2 responded with a crew of seven to Bair Road to assist Station 7-1 with a possible house on fire.

Fire Police Captain 7-4-1 arrived first on scene to find fire venting out the first floor window of the dwelling. Engine 7-1-2 arrived to confirm a working fire on the alpha side and took Command 7-1.

Engine 7-4-2 arrived a couple minutes later and was given the assignment to pull a second hand-line and assist with interior operations. The rest of the engines crew threw ground ladders and ventilation.

The fire was knocked down within minutes. Crews worked on the 7-1 assignment for about two hours before being released. 


 
   
   
Rescue Assists 88 on a Working Fire

At 1122 hours, RE 7-4-1 responded with a crew of seven to assist 88 (Dauphin County) on a working structure fire.

RE 7-4-1 arrived and committed to the Rapid Intervention Team and was released about an hour later.


 
   
   
Rescue Responds to 283 for a Crash

At 1843 hours, RE 7-4-1 responded along with Company 7-11 for a accident with entrapment on East Bound 283 in the area of Ridge Road.

Deputy 7-11 and Chief 7-11 arrived to find three cars involved with one down an embankment. Crews assisted with patient care.

RE 7-4-1 was released by Command 7-11 30 minutes later.      


 
   
   
Two Car Crash with Confinement

At 0032 hours, Station 7-4 along with Company 7-11 (Rheems) and Campbelltown Rescue 2 were advised of a two car crash with possible entrapment on Mount Gretna Road.

Deputy 7-4 arrived to confirm a two crash crash with confinement, not entrapment.

The incident was downgraded to Station 7-4 and 7-11 only, recalling Rescue 2.

Crews from Rescue Engine 7-4-1 extricated one patient from the passenger side. Crews from Engine 7-4-2, Squad 7-4 and Engine 7-11-2 assisted with patient care.

The incident was terminated an hour later.


 
   
   
Chimney Fire in Newville

At 1050 hours, Company 74 was called out to Newville Road along with Companies 71 and 75 for a possible chimney fire.

Engine 742 arrived to find a 2 1/2 story, single family dwelling, with homeowners on the roof with a garden hose attempting to control the fire.

Crews checked the interior for extension, found none. Crews operated on the assignment for about 30 minutes before being released.

Crash on Market

At 0830, Engine 742 responded for a smoke investigation outside. Update given was possible smoke coming from a window from an apartment on East Park Street. E742 arrived to find steam coming from the structure instead. E742 cleared the scene ten minutes later.

At 0836, Rescue Engine 741, Squad 74, Deputy 74 (Bock) along with Company 7-11 (Rheems)responded for a crash in the 1000 block of North Market Street. Squad 74 handled the incident with debris clean up and cleared the scene in 20 minutes.

Car Fire on the Highway

Just before the morning commute, Rescue Engine 74-1 along with Company 7-11 and Chief 74-3 (Kline) was alerted to 283 EB for a possible car fire.

RE 74-1 and Chief 74-3 responded and advised of multiple calls of a working car fire.

Units arrived to find one car along the highway fully involved. Crews quickly extinguished the fire.

Units on the highway box cleared the scene about twenty minutes later.


 
   
   
Station 7-4 Fully Staffed for Winter Snow Storm

Today, tonight and most of tomorrow, Station 7-4 will be fully staffed due to the winter snow storm that has been ongoing.

Apparatus will be staffed throughout the night by Chief Drey; firefighters John Halbleib, Joe Macus, Ryan Myers, Scott Adkins, Elvis Zeirders, Roger Neuenschwander, Kevin Basehore , Jimmy Bamberger, Jon Gage and Andrew Shearer.

Other firefighters that assisted in staffing this evening was Deputy Bock, Assistant Chief Kinsey, Captain Bestwick and Chauffeur Dave George.

EFD would like to thank all volunteers that participated in the staffing assignment and a special thank you Kevin Basehore and Sarah Rich for preparing great meals for the volunteer crews.

EFD responded to three emergency calls throughtout the day. 


 
   
   
Truck Company Responds to Possible Structure Fire in Mount Joy

At 1123 hours, Truck 7-4 was called to East main Street in Mount Joy Bourhg for a possible building fire.

The truck responded fully staffed and received information of heavy smoke coming from the peek of the roof.

Truck 7-4 arrived and went in service on side Alpha of the structure. Ground ladders were thrown and crews assisted with interior operations.

The incident was placed under control quickly.

Truck 7-4 cleared the scene about an hour later.


 
   
   
Truck and Engine Company Goes to Work on a House Fire in Bainbridge

At 2345 hours, Truck 7-4 was called to assist with a house on fire on North 2nd Street in Conoy Township. Truck 7-4 hit the street with a crew of six and copied information from Command 7-1 of a working house fire.

Truck 7-4 arrived and was given instruction to go to work. The exterior crew "cracked the roof" for ventilation purposes. The interior crews met up with Company 7-1 and assisted with extinguishment.

Later into the incident Command 7-1 requested Engine 7-4-2 for manpower. Engine 7-4-2 arrived and crews went to work doing overhaul on the 2nd floor. Crews worked on the scene for about two hours before being released.

Volunteers are wishing Firefighter Mike Smith for a quick full recovery on his ankle.

Station 7-4 ran an additional six calls throughout the day.

5 For the Day Including 2 Working Fires
Monday, December 7, 2009

The morning started with the truck company being dispatched for a fire alarm assisting 7-11 (Rheems). Chief 7-11 (Stanford) held the incident to Station 7-11.

At the same time the truck was due for the fire alarm, Rescue Engine7-4-1 was dispatched for RIT to Lebanon County, South Anville Township. RE 7-4-1 was advised of a working saw mill fire on Mount Wilson Road. RE 7-4-1 made it on scene with a crew of seven and was released thirty minutes later.
 
At 2037 hours, RE 7-4-1 was called out for a reported fire in a dwelling in Middletown Borough, Dauphin County. RE 7-4-1 arrived and assumed as the RIT. Crews from 88 (Middletown) had a working fire in the kitchen and had extended to the third floor of an old Victorian house located on North Union Street. Crews made a quick knock down and released RE 7-4-1 about an hour later.
 
Earlier in the day 7-4 ran a fire alarm and a gas leak.
