WORKING BARN FIRE

June 19 - Truck 74 was sent to Conoy Township for a reported barn fire. Enroute, county advised that they were receiving multiple calls of a working barn fire. The truck crew assisted Engine 7-1-3's crew on the hand line, the truck crew also extinguished hot spots that hose lines from the ground were not able to reach. Truck 74 went available about 2 and a half hours after initial dispatch.
  

OUR THOUGHTS GO OUT TO OUR BROTHERS AT SCHUYKILL HOSE COMAPNY No. 2

September 13 - On Wednesday a fire occurred at Station 2 in Schuykill county, Two engines and a hazmat unit were lost. At Station 7-4 we went through the same thing and know how difficult these times can be, you are all in our prayers.
  


BUILDING IN FIRST DUE

September 10 - Station 74 was dispatched at 16:23 to 133 North Poplar St for a building fire. Truck 74 and Engine 7-4-2 arrived on scene at 16:26 and found a multiple occupancy dwelling with light smoke showing. The fire was quickly discovered to be in ceiling of the bedroom closet. After a quick knock Station 74 was available at 17:20. Pictures can be viewed on Station 7-11's website.
  


INVESTIGATION IN SOUTH LONDONDERRY TWP

September 7 - Truck 7-4 Responded to 724 Lawn rd, for an investigation. Upon arrival the truck crew was asked to check the roof due to reports of light smoke. Nothing was found and the truck was available at 14:42.
  


EFD MEMBERS HELP TRAIN THE COMMUNITY

September 6 - FF Bashore, FF Pavalonis, and FF Myers headed to a public training session at "Continental Press ITP". While there, they educated the employees in the proper use and operation of different types of fire extinguishers.
  


ACTIVATED ALARM IN RHEEMS

September 4 - Truck 7-4 responded to Rheems for an activated fire alarm, enroute to scene it was determined to be a false alarm.



ACTIVATED ALARM AT CRYSTAL POOLS

August 30 - Truck 7-4 responded to West Donegal Township for an activated alarm at 110 Cameron St, While enroute county advised a false alarm.



STATION 74 FINISHES FORCEABLE ENTRY CLASS

June 11 - Members from Station 74 completed the practical part of their forcible entry class. The class was held at station 75 (FDMJ). The entire class had a great time and learned alot of valuable skills. Big thanks to Chief of Drey for bringing Truck 74 to class, and of course The Fire Department of Mount Joy for inviting EFD to participate.
  


EFD INSTRUCTS IN FIRE EXTINGUISHER TRAINING

June 9 - Engine 7-4-2 with a crew of 4 (Lieutenant Kline, FF Bamberger, FF smith and junior FF Klepping) went to the Gears office on Poplar St for some fire pettier training. In total 9 citizens were instructed in the proper use of a fire extinguisher in case of an emergency. Engine 7-4-2 cleared in about two hours.
  


8TH TRIP IS A JOB IN MIDDLETOWN

May 31 - After a light rest from the previous calls, Engine 7-4-1 was dispatched to assist Middletown with a dwelling fire. Station 88 units arrived to find a working fire on the second floor of a 2 1/2 story Type 5 double residence. 88 crews made quick work of the fire and had relative control by the time Engine 1 arrived. EFD personnel set up as RIT and made two separate entries (PASS alarm activation and report of civilian still on second floor). Both situations turned out negative.
  


ANOTHER BUSY DAY FOR THE EFD

May 31 - The EFD pulled in 8 runs for the day. The early a.m. began with a medical assist for an unconscious AED, followed immediately by a MVA assist to Rheems. Late morning saw a brush fire, investigation and duck rescue. The afternoon brought a dwelling dispatch that turned out to be a fire on the rear deck (called in and extinguished with a garden hose by Engineer Landvater while on his US Postal route). An oven fire with smoke removal followed by a working fire in Middletown finished the day.
  


TOWER TRANSFER TO ROHRERSTOWN

May 29 - Tower 74 was transferred to Station 67 while they operated on an apartment fire in their first due. The standby brought a dwelling dispatch to West Hempfield (good thing for the On-Scene Xplorer mapping software). While at Rohrerstown, EFD personnel got to reunite with an old friend.
  


TRUCK 7-4 TAKES TRIP TO HOOTERS

May 19- Truck 7-4 took a trip to the Hooters restaurant in Mechanicsburg. They took part in a community event and photo opportunity. In exchange, the guys had their helmets signed by hooters waitresses. This was also a great opportunity for the Elizabethtown Fire Department to reach out to other communities.
  


UPGRADES BEGIN TO STATION 7-4

May 16- Construction crews recently began the extensive upgrades to station 7-4. This includes individual rooms for live-ins, new offices, overflow room, and the new weight room (pictured below). Lieutenant Bob Kline also used his artistic abilities and a lot of his own personal time to paint the department patches, now depicted on the back wall of the apparatus bay.
  

SUPPRESION ENGINE GOES TO BAINBRIDGE

May 28 - Engine 7-4-2 transferred to Station 7-1 and stoodby for several hours while they operated at a water rescue on the Susquehanna.


NEW ENGINE ARRIVES

May 25 - The brand new supression engine arrived today at Station 7-4. Once this engine is put into service it will take over the duties of our current Engine 7-4-2. The old engine will remain in service as a reserve engine. More images can be viewed here
  


6TH CALL OF DAY BRINGS 4 ALARM FIRE

May 23, 19:45- Engine 7-4-1 was dispatched to 111 New Haven Steet, Mount Joy to standby for station 7-5. While enroute, county called Engine 7-4-1 and advised them to redirect to 1145 Colebrook Road for a barn fire. Upon arriving Command 7-9 advised OIC Kinsey to take his crew and go to Bravo side to opening up the roof. Later in the incident Tower Ladder 74 was dispatched to assist in overhaul operations of the incident. Station 74 was available at 22:42 hours.
  


REPORTED VEHICLE ACCIDENT WITH ENTRAPMENT

May 23, 15:26 hours- Engine 7-4-1, Engine 7-11-2 and Truck 7-4 were dispatched for a Vehicle Accident With Entrapment. Deputy Bock went enroute and was then advised of a 3 vehicle incident with possible entrapment. Engine 7-4-1 went in route with 5, While enroute they were advised that all patients out of the cars. Engine 7-4-1 arrived on scene, assisted EMS and contained fluids on the roadway.
  


TOWER 74 ATTENDS PANCAKE BREAKFAST

May 19- Tower Ladder 74 went to Masonic Village for a pancake breakfast benefiting Michelle Morrison, a multiple amputee. Masonic Village raised well over $100,000 for local charity's. The crew attending the breakfast was LT Kline, FF Bashore, FF Smith, FF Bamberger
  


2ND DWELLING OF THE DAY IN THE BORO

May 8- Station 7-4 was dispatched for a report of a smoke condition coming from a wood stove. Upon investigation Engine 7-4-2's crew discovered a working chimney fire with with extension into the walls and floors. A quick knock on the fire was made, and an extensive overhaul operation was completed.
  


REPORTED DWELLING IN THE BORO

May 8- Station 7-4 was dispatched for a dwelling, initial reports indicated that a lamp was on fire. Upon arrival the lamp was removed from the residence. Engine 7-4-2 checked the surrounding area for any fire extension, While Truck 7-4 Performed ventilation. All units cleared within 30 minutes.
  


DUCKS REPORTED TRAPPED

May 7- Engine 7-4-1 was dispatched on a public service for a duck rescue. Upon arrival, it was discovered that bystanders were able to remove the majority of ducklings from the storm drain. Two other ducklings were still reported trapped, and had to be manually extricated due to debris in the water pipe. All victims were successfully removed and returned to their mother.



DWELLING IN FIRST DUE

May 7- Station 7-4 was dispatched for a reported dwelling fire, while enroute to scene county advised that the smoke condition in the house was worsening. Upon arrival Engine 7-4-2 found a smoldering mulch pile on side delta. The fire had begun to melt the side of the house and had started to burn into the wall. Truck 7-4 assisted with ventilation, all apparatus was clear of the box in 45 minutes.
  


REPORTED VEHICLE ACCIDENT

May 4- Engine 7-4-1 was dispatched to a reported motor vehicle accident with unknown injuries 283 Westbound, East of Cloverleaf Rd. Shortly before arriving on scene, county recalled all apparatus due to the initial reports being unfounded.



WORKING TRAILER FIRE IN LONDONDERRY TWP.

April 24- Engine 7-4-2 was dispatched to assist Station 54 on working trailer fire with people reported trapped. Engine 7-4-2 was first on scene with visible fire from side bravo, While arriving on scene Engine 7-4-2's crew was advised that all residents made it out safely. Engine 7-4-2 Continued with a search of the rear of the trailer while Engine 54 gained a quick knock on the fire. units cleared scene in a little under two hours.
  


BOX 88-1 BRINGS DWELLING FIRE

April 23- Engine 7-4-1 was dispatched with a R.I.T. assignment to Middletown, upon arrival Engine 7-4-1's crew was relieved of its R.I.T. duties and was instructed to assist Truck 88 with truck work. Station 74's crew threw ladders, expanded windows, and preformed ventilation of the building. With the majority of the fire knocked down, part of Engine 7-4-1's crew assisted with an extensive overhaul operation in the fire room.
